Plate and sheet glass
In the Plate and Sheet Glass Division, we use glass blasting and chemical processing to create highly-expressive glass products. We make use of various glass etching technologies that harmonize the glass with the light passing through it, and we continue working towards developing technologies for exacting products that will meet the needs of generations to come.
Frosted Glass
Frosted glass is transparent glass whose surface has been sandblasted (typically on one side only) and processed with chemicals to create glass with a fine, smooth texture that still has a degree of transparency.
Frosted glass closely resembles sandblasted (ground) glass, but frosted glass offers a finer surface quality and a softer transparency.
Certain situations and spaces require filtered, softened light. Frosted patterns become one with the ambient light to create a beautiful and gentle atmosphere, and the chemically-processed glass surface has a refined and elegant finish that is resistant to dirt.
Etched Mirrors
Glass is carved using sandblasting and portions are carefully etched and finished using chemical processes. All our delicate relief work drawn through etching is carried out by hand. The elegant, semi-solid appearance that softly reflects light is born out this laborious technique. These products can create a variety of uniquely-expressive atmospheres. We offer etched mirrors for every setting and taste.
Frosted Mirrors
These mirrors, which have been completely frosted, scatter light gently to create an elegant ambiance.
These products are often used in department stores, around escalators and as wall decorations in restrooms.
Using frosting in a decorative frame design or for a company logo helps create a rich, high-class environment.
Etched Glass
The etching of glass is performed by veteran glass workers with advanced skills and refined sensibilities. They shape glass with the design sense of an architect or commercial artist. While the methods they use are intricate and cannot be detailed here, various etching styles such as line etching, surface etching, and shading are combined to create expressive works of art. For an even more complex depth of expression making use of the interplay of transparency and opacity, chemical treatments and sandblasting can be used to finish a piece.
